Majlis-e-Ilmi is an internal body of Jamia Ahmadiyya UK consisting of students from different year groups. This body is responsible for the organisation of academic competitions throughout the year. All of these competitions are held in the spirit of the Quranic teaching to vie with one another in goodness. The purpose of such competitions is to enhance the intellectual capabilities of students.
In order to build an atmosphere of competition, students from each class are assigned into five house groups, namely Amanat, Diyanat, Rafaqat, Sadaqat and Shaja’at. They remain in these house groups for the rest of their time at Jamia and receive many opportunities to represent their groups in various competitions.
These competitions include: Tilawat, Nazm, Adhan, prepared and extempore speech contests in English, Urdu and Arabic, General Knowledge Quiz, Presentation competition, Quiz Ruhani Khazain(books of the Promised Messiah asabbreviation for "Peace be upon him"), Bait Baazi(reciting couplets from memory), essay writing competition and many more. As competitions are won, points are awarded to the winning participants.
At the end of the academic year, the much-awaited ‘Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony’ is held to celebrate the achievements of the students who took part. Points are tallied up to award prizes for the best group, best individual student and best speaker. In addition to this, prizes are distributed to all position holders in all competitions. Numerous external guests also attend this event.
